Please follow the steps outlined in this guide to properly setup your computer for Bangla/Bengali Unicode support. It will show you how to:

  • Add support for Unicode Bangla in Windows
  • Install Bangla Unicode fonts
  • Setup your internet browser for proper Unicode support

Steps are very easy to follow and at the end of the process you will be able to read/write Bangla in any application that supports Unicode input.

Add support for Unicode Bangla in Windows

For Windows 2000/XP/2003 Users-
Log-in to your Windows with Administrative privilege. If you don’t have administrative privilege, please ask the owner of the computer to do it.

Download the Indic Language Installer from here. Run the downloaded Enable_Language.exe and a window like this will appear-

Enable Indic

Click on the Enable button-

Windows will ask you to insert the Windows installer CD into your ROM.

Insert Windows CD

Insert the Windows installer disk in your ROM and press the OK button.

Windows will copy some files

Windows will copy some necessary files.

After all the above process is done, our language installer will ask you to restart Windows

Enable Indic and Restart

Click the Restart button to restart windows with Indic language support.

For Windows Vista Users-
Bangla support is already present on Windows Vista, so you don’t need to do anything there.

 

Install Bangla Unicode fonts

Download the latest SolaimanLipi font from here. And follow these instructions to install the font.
